November Recipes

I'm not gonna lie I did really bad these past few months on my blog.  Althought I was still cooking and trying new recipes I just never got around to posting them.  I wish I had a good excuse but I don't.  I did however remember this month even though it's late in the month but I will still keep posting even next year just as I go.

Carmelized Brussel Sprouts with Bacon

I was in charge of appetizers for Thanksgiving and I wanted to try something different and new since we always do the same vegetable dip and deviled eggs.  It was starting to get old.  I saw this recipe on the Today Show but I changed it up a big.  The recipe orignally calls for maple syrup but I had already added brown sugar to sweeten it up and I thought Maple Syrup would be too much but for some people the sweeter the better!

Brussel Sprouts
Olive Oil
Black Pepper
Sea Salt
Brown Sugar Bacon
Maple Syrup
Roasted Pecans

Peel off outer leaves, put them in a bowl and drizzle olive oil over the them, add salt and pepper.  Place that in the at 300 degrees for about 20 minutes or you could Sauté on the skillet for about 20 minutes.  Fry the bacon and add brown sugar.  Roast the pecans with a little olive oil and rosemary in the oven for about 10 minutes.  Add it all together in serving bowl and it's done!

Leftover Turkey Pot Pie

In my family we have two Thanksgivings on seperate days, I never complain because it means more yummy food and more special time with family.  I also don't complain because it means I get to take home double the leftovers!  They last me about 4-5 days depending on what I make wih them. Yesterday I got down to the last of my turkey, stuffing, mashed potates and gravy.  I looked online for recipes and I found Turkey Pot pie however it entailed me going to the grocery to buy even more food that wouldn't fit in my fridge so me being the genius that I am came up with the idea to make the pie crust but just use the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy as the filler inside.  I placed it in the over at 400 degrees for about half hour and out came this delicious golden masterpiece.  Seriously this thing was BOMB and I pretty much ate half of it.  It was a cross between a sheperd's pie and turkery pot pie, either way it was amazing and my husband said you have to put this on your blog!  So here it is,  if you have those items leftover through them together make a yummy pie crust and bake!

Our families are based around the dinner table we both came from families that love to get together and eat. Literally that's all we do, and amazing conversations come out of these dinners. I think this is why we are the way we are, our love for food comes from our parents, and for that I thank them.
